After a long, cold, wet winter suddenly turned into the joint hottest summer on record for the UK, Scottish farmers feared the worst for their 2018 harvest but NFUS are reporting better than expected crop yields but straw yields down year-on-year.
Even with the recent spells of rain, the dry weather is set to continue in Aberdeenshire, putting increasing pressure on water supplies and the forecast rain is not expected to replenish supplies sufficiently.
Scottish Water is asking customers to use water wisely in their daily activities to help maintain supplies during the current period of hot summer weather.
