Fundraising goal kicked out of the park in local football derby

The Let’s Kick This Together football derby between Chapman Electrical and Ardinn Homes raises thousands of pounds for charity

Let’s Kick This Together, a football derby fundraiser between Turriff businesses Chapman Electrical and Ardinn Homes, has raised more than £11,000 for locally based charities Turning Point and Home Start.

Now set to become an annual event, hopefully involving other teams in a mini tournament, the aim was to raise awareness about mental health while raising some much-needed funds at the same time.

The two charities were selected because their services include mental health support and because the work they do is crucial in supporting communities locally and around the North-east.

Darren Findlay of Chapman Electrical said

The amount of money raised went way beyond our expectations.

We hadn’t really set a target we just hoped to raise as much as possible, and the final total smashed it out of the park.

The derby was the main event in what became a family day out with food and activities for children throughout the afternoon.

Ryan Morrison of Ardinn Homes said

We’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who supported this event, that includes other businesses, friends, family and the many, many members of the community who came along to cheer us on. We couldn’t have achieved what we did without them.

Chapman ran out eventual winners with a 4-1 win but Ardinn is already working on their strategy for next year’s match.

Main sponsor for the event was Annie Kenyon Developments (ak|d). Annie is regularly involved in arranging and supporting annual charitable events and fundraisers. The three companies have worked together on a regular basis on projects for ak|d for more than 15 years.
