The Formartine Area Committee considered applications to the Area Committee Budget on Tuesday, August 31.

Turriff Local Charity will gain £317.20 to help buy equipment, materials and tools to improve its charity shop on the town’s High Street.

The shop helps the charity re-cycle clothing and bric-a-brac items while raising money to benefit local groups and organisations in the Turriff area.

Elsewhere in Formartine

Balmedie Leisure Centre Association will receive £5,000 to go towards the creation of an outdoor inclusive play area.

The new community space will allow children of all abilities to play on a variety of new playground equipment.

Ellon Rotary Club will get £1,000 towards its project to create a picnic and activity area in an unused outdoor area at Ellon Resource Centre.

The proposed multi-functional area will provide local groups with a space to carry out activities such as exercise classes and growing vegetables.

The Rotary Club intends to make the area fully accessible to provide access for everyone.

The Ellon Parks Improvement Committee will be awarded with a sum up to £6,987 to assist with its project to remove and replace the swing sets at Auchterellon play park.

The new equipment to be installed in the park will be accessible for wheelchair users.

The committee was told that the group had outstanding applications for other sources of funding so members agreed to award the remaining amount that would be required to allow the project to go ahead.
