Car showroom plans to be heard by councillors

Plans for a new car showroom in Turriff are to be considered by councillors today

By Kirstie Topp – Local Democracy Reporter

The owners of Crown Motors are seeking planning permission in principle for the new showroom and service centre on land at Station Road.

The site was previously used by an aviation storage facility and would also have car parking and a car display area.
Crown Motors would keep its current Crudie showroom and the proposed development would help to extend the business.

A supporting statement issued with the application states that the new development would have the potential to create around 15 to 20 new jobs.

The application has received one letter of support and one objection.

Supporters believe the development would help to support the town centre and local businesses, however the objection raised concerns regarding overdevelopment, loss of heritage and unsuitable accessibility.

Aberdeenshire Council officers have recommended the application be referred to the Infrastructure Services Committee for determination and the decision to grant be delegated to the Head of Planning and Environment Services.

The application will be considered by the Formartine Area Committee today.
