No plans to close Turriff Cottage Hospital say the Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership

Turriff Cottage Hospital is currently closed to admissions after an outbreak of Coronavirus in December.

A number of the staff have been redeployed to other locations which fuelled concerns in Turriff that the hospital was to be closed permanently.

NHS Grampian and the Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership have been quick to dispel these local rumours.

Geraldine Fraser, Partnership Manager for Central Aberdeenshire, said

As a temporary measure to help us support services in the short term, Turriff Community Hospital has been closed to admissions. Staff from the hospital have been asked to temporarily deploy to other priority areas including the roll-out of the mass vaccination campaign, in order that we can continue to deliver vital community health and social care services.

The health care system across Grampian and indeed all of Scotland is under pressure currently and resources need to be used where they are needed the most to deliver care and to support the rollout of the mass vaccination plans.
