The Lloyds Banking Group have confirmed the closure date for the Bank of Scotland branch in Turriff.
In a statement released on 29 December, a spokesman said
We will now be closing the branch on 30 March 2021. Our branch colleagues have been notified of the date. We have contacted all our customers to let them know, and have put up posters in the branch.
Local MP David Duguid, said
This is very disappointing news and another blow for the High Street in Turriff.
The timing of this announcement could not be worse for staff, with Christmas just a few weeks away. My immediate thoughts are for those affected.
I will be engaging with Bank of Scotland to ensure that as many as possible will be offered jobs elsewhere.
This will also mean another empty unit in the heart of Turriff from next Spring. I hope that the building will not remain out of use for long, as this has a knock-on effect on the rest of the town centre.
