The NHS Scotland Test & Protect app has gone live in the Apple & Android download stores.
The Protect Scotland app from NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect is a free, mobile phone app designed to help us protect each other, reduce the spread of coronavirus and avoid further lockdowns.
Unlike apps that have been trialled in other parts of the UK, the NHS Scotland app uses the decentralised data sharing platforms set up by Apple & Google. This means that the app does not hold personal information, know who you are, or know where you have been. It cannot identify you or track your movements.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeted this morning
📱There’s a new way to help fight COVID in Scotland. ‘Protect Scotland’ – our confidential contact tracing app – will anonymously notify app users you’ve been in close contact with, should you test positive. Please download, and let’s all protect Scotland https://t.co/rdrRPopPB4
