Police confirm body found near Macduff as William Hay

Police Scotland have confirmed that the body recovered from the cliffs to the east of Macduff on Monday 30 December was that of missing William Hay.

Mr Hay’s body was recovered after a four hour operation involving HM Coastguard specialist rope access teams and the RNLI Lifeboat from Macduff.

Mr Hay had been missing from Macduff since the 7 December and his car was found at Greenwood Loch caravan park.
