Man charged after Cuminestown drug raid

A 30-year-old man from the Cuminestown area has been charged with drugs offences after a raid by Police Scotland this weekend

A 30-year-old man from the Cuminestown area appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Monday 4 November in relation to alleged drugs offences after Cannabis with an estimated street value of £142,000 was seized from an Industrial Unit in the Cuminestown area of Turriff, Aberdeenshire over the weekend.

Approximately 100 plants were recovered after local officers responded at an address after receiving valuable intelligence.

Detective Sergeant Scott McKay said

This is the second major recovery of illegal drugs in the last week. This is a direct result of intelligence we receive from people within our local communities.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the ongoing work between Local Community Officers and our Criminal Investigation Departments, our partner agencies and the local community who continue to provide invaluable intelligence which leads directly to the recovery of controlled drugs and the apprehension of offenders. We will continue to actively pursue those who target vulnerable people in the North East by disrupting their actions and seizing the proceeds of criminal activities.

Anyone with information about the supply of illegal drugs should contact Police Scotland on 101 or if you wish to remain anonymous can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
