Break in at Turriff roads depot

Aberdeenshire Council roads depot on Markethill Road was broken in to sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

A council spokesperson said

I can confirm that there was a break-in at the Turriff Roads Depot this morning and a small number of plant tools were taken, a van was also taken and found abandoned and burnt out 5 miles out of Turriff.

PC Lewis Ingram of Police Scotland said

Officers are making enquiries following a break-in and the theft of a number of tools and equipment from the Aberdeenshire Council depot at Markethill Road in Turriff. The incident is understood to have happened at around 3.30am on Wednesday, 14 November.

A car was also stolen but it was later recovered. Anyone with information or who saw anything unusual or suspicious in the area is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number CF0280791118.

If you saw anything unusual overnight or this morning, please contact Police Scotland on 101.
