The B9025 Aberchirder to Turriff Road will be closed between 9:30 and 3:30 Monday to Friday until 26 February.
The closure is to allow Aberdeenshire Council to carry out verging and drainage improvement work just east of Aberchirder near Muirden of Cranna.
The works are due to begin this morning (Monday 30th January) and is due to cost £50,000 which represents a considerable investment in the road.
In order to protect the safety of road users and the workforce on site, the B9025 will be closed between 09.30am and 3.30pm from Monday to Friday during the four week closure. Access will be maintained, where possible, affected properties.
Diversion routes will be signed via Banff using the A947 Turriff to Banff Road and the A97 Banff to Aberchirder Road and vice versa.
Aberdeenshire Council’s Head of Roads, Landscape Services and Waste Management, Philip McKay, said
Although a four week window has been allocated for the road closure, if all the works go to plan and there are no major weather delays it may be possible to re-open the road earlier under temporary traffic lights.
We appreciate that the signed diversion route will be lengthy and we apologise for any inconvenience caused, but we will do everything possible to ensure that the work is carried out in the shortest possible timescale.
