Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision involving two cars about 11.47am on Sunday 1 January 2017.
The collision happened on the unclassified Turriff – Cuminestown road near Delgatie Castle, Turriff, Aberdeenshire and involved a red Volkswagen Golf and a black Citroen C2.
A 42 year old woman who was a passenger in the Volkswagen sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal infirmary where she is in a critical condition. An 18 year old woman, who was also a passenger in the Volkswagen sustained a serious leg injury but is in a stable condition at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The other three occupants of the Volkswagen sustained minor injuries.
A 30 year old man who was driving the Citroen suffered serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he is in a critical condition.
The road was closed for over seven hours whilst investigations took place but has now been re-opened.

I would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen the incident and has not yet spoken to Police to please come forward with any information. Likewise anyone who may have seen either vehicle in the time leading up to the collision should also get in touch with Police on 101 as we try to piece together exactly what happened.
