What’s in a name?
It has been suggested that Markethill Primary School may not be the best name for the new school building currently being built at Meadowbank Road.
Six options for the name of the new school have been put forward to Aberdeenshire Council Education and Children’s Services the suggested names are
- Meadowbank School
- Meadowview School
- Markethill School
- Shannocks View School
- Turriff Markethill School
- Turriff Primary School
The Turriff community are being asked to rank the names in the order of preference. The information from the survey will then be presented to the Formartine Area Committee in October and they will make the final decision on the name.
To rank the six names in your order of preference you need to visit https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/turriff by 5pm on Monday 12 September.
According to the architects and contractors the new Markethill Primary School building will be wind and weather tight by 21 September and is on track to be completed by mid May 2017 ready for the start of the 2017/18 school term.
I’m surprised that Sunnyhill Primary School didn’t make it on to the list and wonder if it becomes Shannocks View School, will they rename Shannocks View to School View?
