Damage caused to the sports pitches due to the inclement weather during the recent attendance of Zippos Circus in Turriff is being dealt with by Aberdeenshire Council.
Zippos Circus paid a bond to cover any damage caused during their visit and have agreed that they will forfeit this to Aberdeenshire Council to help cover the costs of the damage.
Aberdeenshire Council’s Head of Roads, Landscape Services and Waste Management, Philip McKay, said
The recent circus visit to Turriff has marked a section of the grass behind the all-weather pitches which the council will need to repair before the area can be used again.
Officers in our education and landscape services are working together to restore the area as quickly as possible and we will keep local groups updated as to when they can use it again.
The sports pitches at Hatton Road have been marked out for the youth teams to play on as an interim measure while the pitches at the Haughs are repaired.
