Parking on pedestrian crossings

Published by Mike Rawlins

There has been an increase in motorists parking on pedestrian crossings in Turriff recently.

Rule 191 of the Highway Code states

You MUST NOT park on a crossing or in the area covered by the zig-zag lines.

Inspector Harrison the Formartine Community Inspector said

Police are finding a number of motorists parked on pedestrian crossings.  This is unacceptable and an obvious risk to public safety.  We are fortunate in Turriff to have ample parking opportunities.  Any motorist found parking on the controlled area of a crossing faces a £100 fine and 3 penalty points on their driving license.

Please do not park there and spend a minute walking from an appropriate space.

Officers from Police Scotland will be looking out for vehicles parked illegally on crossings and will be issuing tickets to the motorists involved.
