Friends of Macduff Marine Aquarium need your help.
After hearing about the Bags of Help grant scheme being run by Tesco (funded by the 5p carrier bag levy) and discussions with the Aquarium staff, the Friends of Macduff Marine Aquarium (FOMMA) put forward an application to provide some outdoor activity equipment including a shark play sculpture, an octopus for wee ones to clamber on and a toddler seating unit in the shape of a starfish. They also included a wall-mounted panel and an interpretive outdoor display in their application.
They think these will add to the overall attraction of the Aquarium and provides something for younger visitors especially. They hope they will allow families, groups and other visitors to stay longer, spend more time in the Aquarium and thereby encourage additional trade in local shops and restaurants for example.
In a press release they said
We are really delighted that we have been successful and awarded a grant of at least £8000! Depending on the outcome of the public vote we may receive additional funding to extend what we are doing.
What they would like you to do…
Voting will be open in the Banff, Turriff, Huntly and Fraserburgh branches of Tesco from 27th Feb – 6th March, and they would like as many people as possible give their vote to the project.
Macduff Marine Aquarium is a great asset to the North East of Aberdeenshire and deserves some support from us locally.
There has already been a great response on social media to the projects, with lots of likes, positive comments and sharing. If you use Facebook, Twitter or any other form of social media please pass the message on to your family, friends and work colleagues. Every vote counts!
