The planning application to change the former Duff Street public toilets in to a hot food takeaway has been rejected by the Formartine Area Committee today.

The application was unanimously refused by councillors despite being recommended for approval by officers.

Officers say it is expected that the alternative plans [APP/2015/2230] to turn the toilet block in to a dwelling house will appear on the committee agenda in the near future.

Rose Logan, Chair of Turriff and District Community Council said,

Members of Turriff & District Community Council are pleased to see that common sense has prevailed in the rejection of the planning application for a Takeaway Outlet at the former Public Convenience building in Duff Street.

This outlet would have been on a very busy main arterial route through the town used by large heavy goods vehicles and agricultural vehicles bringing to the fore safety issues etc in an already congested area.
