Turriff & District Pipe Band have appointed new Lead Drummer, Michael Haggart, to their drum core.
In a statement, a spokesman for Turriff & District Pipe Band said
The band would like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome Mike into the fold and wish him every success in his roll. Pipe Major Sinclair Lamb is looking forward to getting started working with him for next season.
Mike brings with him a wealth of experience, playing for many years in grade 1 and grade 2 . Some of which was served in grade 1 Vale of Atholl Pipe Band under the talented LD at the time Paul Turner.
Mike has the added bonus of taking up the post as LD with a much needed brand new set of Andante drums.
Thanks were also given to Kyle Richard who had been the bands lead drummer last season
We would like to thank Kyle for the season he gave us as lead drummer. He done an amazing job in such a short space of time and without him, the band would have been unable to compete this year and achieve the successes they have.
We are glad that Kyle will be remaining with the band as a valued member in Mike Haggarts new core.
Turriff & District Pipe Band only started to compete again this season after a few years away from competitions.
They claimed the title North East champion of champions in grade 3 as a band and as a drum core, laying down a marker for next season and even more competition wins.
The band will start practising for the 2016 season shortly, with high hopes of repeating and building on what they’ve achieved so far.
If there are any pipers/drummers interested in joining Turriff & District grade 3 band you can contact them via the Turriff & District Pipe Band Facebook page.
