CLAN Cancer Support is inviting local people from Turriff and the surrounding area to an official launch event, to be held within the Turriff Town House on December 4, from 10am to 2pm.
The charity, which last month announced that it will provide a range of services from within the former municipal building on the town’s High Street will showcase a number of taster complementary therapies for those affected by cancer at the event.
CLAN, which covers the whole of north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland will offer a number of free services from its Turriff base for anyone affected by cancer, including one-to-one support, counselling, access to its specialist children and families’ service, complementary therapies and wellbeing activities.
The charity’s Turriff base will be initially open every Friday from 10am to 4pm, with services commencing on Friday, December 5.
Lucy Whiteman, CLAN’s services manager, said
Plans for developing CLAN Cancer Support in Turriff have been ongoing for a number of months now, so we’re delighted to be in the position of announcing this expansion; it is important that more rural communities throughout Aberdeenshire can access the type of support CLAN can offer.
CLAN has also announced the appointment of two new staff members to its North Aberdeenshire team. Angie Christie, North Aberdeenshire area co-ordinator and Suzi Will, local services co-ordinator, will have an integral role in the development of the charity’s services within the area and will be involved with the new service provision within Turriff.
