Police Scotland can confirm that the pedestrian who died following a collision involving a lorry on the Cuminestown to Fyvie road at South Teuchar Farm, Cuminestown, on Sunday September 14, 2014 was Davie Moir, 64, of South Teuchar Farm.
The following statement has been issued by Police Scotland on behalf of his family.
Davie was a loving partner to Ingrid and a much loved father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was very much a family man and was well-known in the community.
His passion was farming and he had lived and worked on the farm at South Teuchar nearly all his life. When he had a rare break he enjoyed trips to Orkney.
He loved the local area, spending time outdoors, spending time with his family and working on the farm. When he wasn’t working he was a very keen Bridge player and was a popular member at local gatherings.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Sergeant Neil Morrison, Road Policing said
This is a particularly tragic incident and my thoughts and sympathies go out to Mr Moir’s family and friends at this difficult time.
Our enquiries are still at an early stage however, and having spoken with a number of witnesses I am keen to trace and speak to the driver of a tractor, possibly a green John Deere, who I understand may have stopped following the collision and possibly offered assistance at the scene. Anyone who has any additional information is requested to get in touch as soon as possible.
