Over the two days of this years Turriff Show we heard a lot of people complaining about getting parking tickets from the police for parking on verges.
The main areas where people were complaining of being ticketed were, near to the petrol station on Station Road and the verges at the junction of Station Road & Bridgend Terrace.
Inspector Jamie Harrison of the Formartine Community Policing Team told My Turriff.
It was necessary in the interests of public safety associated with the Turriff Show to apply a temporary no waiting restriction to various roads surrounding the showground. Following previous shows local residents had raised concerns regarding vehicles parking within the no waiting areas and on grass verges in the vicinity of Bridgend Terrace.
Details of this concern along with suitable advice were circulated in local media prior to the show.
Despite this advice, many motorists parked in contravention of the order and did not use the Turriff Show car park, which was well sign posted and publicised. Over the course of the show 42 parking tickets were issued to motorists.
Was your car ticketed during the show? Do you think you should be allowed to park on the verges near to the show ground?
