Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to a Fire at Woodhead Brothers Turriff just after lunchtime yesterday.
Crews from Turriff, Aberchirder, Macduff and Banff fire stations were called to the site on Markethill Road just outside of the the town. They were able to bring the blaze under control quickly. Two fire service personnel using breathing apparatus and hose entered the building to tackle the fire.
There were no reported injuries, the incident is not thought to be suspicious and neither Police Scotland or Scottish Ambulance Service were involved.
Woodhead Brothers which is part of the Morrisons supermarket group almost closed down after a fire at the site in 2008. The site was rebuilt and now employs over 300 people.
It is reported to be one of the largest meat processing facilities in the UK dealing with up to 11,000 lambs and 750 cattle a week, producing 600 tonnes of meat products.
