Police Scotland is investigating an assault that occurred in the Turriff area of Aberdeenshire.
The incident occurred between 12.15am and 12.30am on Sunday, April 6, near to the Police Station within The Square, Turriff.
A 41-year-old man was assaulted by two males whereby he was knocked to the ground before being kicked to the body numerous times.
As a result, the victim suffered suspected facial injuries.
The assailants are described as being about 16-years-old, approximately 5ft in height and wearing light-coloured clothing.
Sergeant James Harrison, of the Formartine Community Policing team, said
This was an unprovoked assault which resulted in the victim being badly injured.
At the time of the offence, Turriff would have been busy with people making their way home and I am sure someone will have witnessed the incident.
Officers are keen to speak to anybody who recognises the description of the males or who may have seen something suspicious in the area at that time.
Police Scotland have confirmed that a 15-year-old male has been charged in connection with the incident. Police are continuing to follow a positive line of enquiry.
