The A947 Turriff to Banff road near to Morrison Motors just outside of Turriff was closed in the early hours of this morning after a serious accident.
Police Scotland confirmed that they were called to the road traffic collision along with the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service at around 0200 on Saturday 22 February.
One vehicle, a red Fiat Punto was involved in the accident, the 30 year old male driver had sustained serious injuries and was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance.
The road was closed to enable an investigation into the cause of the accident and has now reopened.
Police Scotland are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the accident or who saw the vehicle being driven in the area about the time of the collision and request they call them on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 should they wish to remain anonymous.
