A new area manager has been appointed for the Formartine area, following the retirement of the previous area manager from the post.
Keith Newton retired in October after 13 years in post as Formartine Area Manager.
Elaine Brown, from Cullen, has now been appointed to the role which she will take up early in the New Year.
She joins Aberdeenshire Council from NHS Grampian, where she has worked for the past 13 years. At NHS Grampian she worked as Modernisation Programme Manager, providing leadership and strategic direction to the cross-system improvement programme.
Ms Brown has held a number of roles at the NHS, including Service Planning Lead and Public Health Lead. She also worked at Moray Council for four years and was educated and trained as an architect, a role she held for 11 years.
Garioch Area Manager Doug Milne continues to act as interim area manager for Formartine until Ms Brown officially takes up the post. The area manager post plays an important role in the council’s efforts to work with local communities, and other partner organisations, to deliver a high standard of services and meet key objectives. The area manager also works closely with local councillors and manages the operation of the local area committee.
Mrs Brown said
I am very pleased to have been appointed to the role of Formartine Area Manager. I look forward to taking up the post in the New Year and to the challenge of ensuring we deliver the best services we can for residents of Formartine. Working in partnership with key public and private sector organisations has been an important part of my previous roles and I am committed to continuing that work for Aberdeenshire Council.
Chair of Formartine Area Committee, Councillor Rob Merson, said
Keith Newton was a dedicated area manager who worked incredibly hard and made an important difference to the Formartine area over his 13 years in post. His absence is already felt by Formartine’s elected members and communities, but we wish him well in his retirement.
I look forward to working with Elaine Brown whom I expect will bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the post.
