It is the last Sunday in October this weekend, which means it is officially the end of British Summer Time and the clocks go back an hour.
At 2am on Sunday 27 October the clocks will go back, allegedly giving us an hour of extra sleep, along with lighter mornings. Of course lighter mornings brings darker evenings.
So don’t forget this weekend make sure you put all of your clocks back and make the most of the extra hour.
Here are the dates for the clock changes for the next couple of years if you want them for your diaries.
|Year||Clocks go forward||Clocks go back|
|2013||31 March||27 October|
|2014||30 March||26 October|
|2015||29 March||25 October|
Trivia– Did you know that the Northern Ireland Assembly has the power to change the time in Northern Ireland, but Wales & Scotland don’t, they are governed by Westminster.
Out of interest, are any of you old enough to remember the British Standard Time experiment from the late 60’s & early 70’s where the clocks didn’t change for a couple of years?
