Do you need work experience or are you between jobs and want to try something different? Are you retired? Why not become a Community Champion or Volunteer for Zero Waste Scotland (ZWS)?Even if you have only an hour or two to spare, you can help raise awareness about food waste in your community.
You’ll represent Zero Waste Scotland in Turriff at local events such as green markets, book fairs, food and music events, Rotary, WRI, galas, guilds, clubs, fetes, fairs, eco, green and agricultural shows.
You choose what/how much you want to do. We’ll train you to do a variety of awareness raising activities, including door-to-door surveys, leafletting, food waste audits, set up/take down information stands, building confidence to attend and/or speak at community events.
Zero Waste Training enables you to:
- identify the causes and costs of food waste in your community
- conduct baseline surveys to determine where help is needed most
- help your community to reduce food waste AND save money on food bills, and
- conduct follow-up surveys to determine the impact we are having in your community
All volunteers get free training such as Using Social Media (Facebook and Web Design), First Aid, REHIS Food Hygiene, Child Protection, Advocacy Core Skills, Training the Trainer.
