A new website is being launched this week so people looking for a home in Aberdeenshire and Moray can now register their details with up to nine different social landlords in one go.
The new site is a partnership project involving
- Aberdeenshire Council
- The Moray Council
- Grampian Housing Association
- Langstane Housing Association
- Aberdeenshire Housing Partnership
- Moray Housing Partnership
- Castlehill Housing Association
- Tenants First Housing Co-operative
- Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association
The site will be is to be launched on Thursday, June 14 at Aberdeenshire Council.
The launch event will include a presentation, demonstration of the system and representatives from all of the nine partners, which include local authorities and housing associations involved in the project, will be on hand to answer questions.
Chair of Aberdeenshire Council’s Social Work and Housing Committee Councillor Karen Clark said
This system is the result of some real commitment, collaboration and dedication and will make such a difference to people who need housing in Aberdeenshire. I look forward to seeing the project take shape.
Approximately 15,000 people on waiting lists in Moray and Aberdeenshire have been written to so they can now apply for housing online.
The Common Housing Register, known as apply4homes, will allow anyone looking to apply for housing with any of the partners to complete just one application form, as opposed to one form per housing provider.
Chair of Moray Council’s Communities Committee Councillor Eric McGillivray added
This will be welcome news to those on the authorities’ waiting lists as well as those applying to housing associations.
It is also an excellent example of partnership working and I commend everyone involved in the project.
To use Apply4Homes people can register their details on the website and will then be contacted by all the partners who they apply to.
Those without internet access can visit local libraries or internet cafés and staff at any of the partner organisations can also provide assistance.
Information entered onto the website is held securely and will be used to assess housing needs.
