Good news travels fast.
The Formartine Partnership has reinstated a scheme to help young people in Formartine travel, so that is good news. The Partnership operates throughout the Formartine area and among its many functions, it organises two grant schemes to help the good folk of the area in a number of ways. One of these projects is the aptly named Rural Youth Transport Financial Assistance Scheme that is aimed at providing funds to youth groups and young people’s clubs in order to help them offset the cost of transport when they travel to events within Aberdeenshire and the City.
This scheme has been in existence for some years and has always been well patronised by a wide variety of clubs and groups in the Formartine area, but recently Aberdeenshire Council withdrew funding for this scheme. However all is not lost as the Partnership have stepped up to help and have reinstated the scheme, with money to pay for it coming out of their own funds. The Partnership feel very strongly that the scheme is very important in helping all of the area’s young folk to get out and about and to visit a wide variety of events, and that is why they are pleased to be able to bring the scheme back to life. Therefore any club, or organised group based in Formartine can now apply once again for help to offset the cost of a bus or other form of transport, that will allow them to travel to an event.
The Rural Youth Transport Financial Assistance Scheme may be applied for at any time of the year, and is open to all organised or constituted groups of young people, who want to travel to a venue for a variety of reasons. The grants available can cover 50% of the actual costs of hiring transport up to a maximum amount of £100.00 for every applicant. Each group can only apply for one grant a year and the scheme runs from April to March annually.
A number of small groups and organisations throughout the Formartine area find it of great value to take their young members to special places or events, but are then held back owing to the cost of transporting them to the venue. Now such groups can once again get organising trips for young folk in the knowledge that help is at hand to pay for transport.
