Six people have been charged following speed checks carried out in the Banff and King Edward areas under Operation CEDAR (Challenge, Educate, Detect and Reduce).
The checks were carried out on Monday, 1 February, and Tuesday, 2 February, and focused on areas around the King Edward Primary School where the speed limit is 20mph.
Five people were reported to the Procurator Fiscal and one ticket was issued. A number of drivers were also stopped and educated. The maximum speed recorded was 40mph.
Further speed checks were carried out in the Macduff area where two persons were charged for travelling in excess of the 30mph speed limit. Again speeds reaching 45mph.
Local enquiry was also carried out into a fail to stop, fail to report incident which has been investigated and a report to the PF will be submitted in due course.
