The Just Giving crowdfunding page set up by Turriff United to help the club recover from the floods in early January hit its goal in just two days.
The club had hoped to raise £1000 in a month to help it recover from the floods. The money raised is going to be used by the club to
- Get the building is dehumidified and cleaned
- Ensure the team changing rooms are properly dried out so they can be repainted
- Replace all the electrical equipment on the ground floor of the building that was affected by the flood.
- Remove the portacabin next to the main building was damaged beyond repair
The club had set a target date of 21 February to raise the £1000 they wanted, by 25 January, just two days after they had launched their Just Giving page, they had raised over £1000 and at the time of writing the funds raised were £1,580 with 25 days still to go.
Gairn Ritchie, club secretary at Turriff United told My Turriff
Turriff United are overwhelmed by the generosity of the individuals and local companies that have taken the time to donate to our Just Giving page, and help us get back on our feet after the recent flooding.
The response to the page, only set up last Friday has been phenomenal and we are all extremely grateful. We set a target of £1000.00 and we have surpassed it already after only four days. I cannot thank the people enough who have helped us to date.
You can still donate to the Turriff United crowdfunding page until 21 February https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/turriff-utd
